Letter Writing

We were learning how to write letters. We had to include the following when writing a letter to someone.

  • Write an address with no punctuation on the left side of the page
  • Write a salutation e.g. Dear Frank
  • Write an opening sentence
  • Write a closing sentence
  • Write an ending e.g. From James
  • Address an Envelope
We all chose someone to write too. Once we had finished we addressed out envelopes and walked to the post shop to post them.

Sacrament of Baptism

We have been learning about the Sacrament of Baptism - the symbols of Baptism, what Baptism is, how people get Baptised and what happens during a Baptism. We were lucky enough to share in the celebration of Baptism with some children from our school.

Magic Glasses

Last week one of our reading groups read a book about Magic Glasses. One of the children in the book didn't like wearing his glasses because he felt different to the other children. Josh and Mrs T-K both said they knew how he felt because they felt similar when they started wearing glasses too. We decided that we would do what the children in the book did and made some magic glasses for all of the children in the reading group. Take a look at our very cool Magic Glasses.

PE - Swing and Rotation

We have been learning about using rotation and swing in the playground. Children have enjoyed using the adventure playground to show swing and rotation. The children have been setting themselves goals and most children have kept on trying to achieve these goals.

Glockenspiels

At the beginning of the term we started learning how to play an A and an E on the Glockenspiels - later on we will learn how to copy and play a simple tune to the beat of the music.

Inquiry - Our Cultures

New Zealand has been doing very well in the Olympics. We started off our inquiry unit with our own Mini Olympics at the Velodrome. The children loved participating and i must say that i was very proud of each and every one of them. We have been looking at different cultures that participate in the Olympics and what cultures looks like in each others lives. Take a look at what we have come up with so far.

Holy Spirit

Check out some of our Holy Spirit art pieces. We were learning about symbols of the Holy Spirit and decided that we would use the dove symbol to make our magnificent pieces of art.
